British White Cattle
RANCHING AND CATTLE PRODUCERS
adequate and proper health & nutrition
We produce animals raised on native pasture as well as introduced pasture. Our best native grasses are Big Bluestem, Little Bluestem, Indiangrass, Switchgrass, Sideoats Grama. Our introduced grasses are Coastal Bermudagrass, Giant Bermudagrass and Kleingrass. Cattle are always grazed in their natural element. We maintain a strong vaccination program within our herd. However, our very best animal health program is maintaining an adequate and proper nutrition level for animals from calf through adulthood. This is basically accomplished by correct and proper management and use of our native and introduced pastures. Adequate and proper nutrition will overcome many potential health problems. We strive to use our grass production program on a year around basis. However, during times of drought and hard winters, we will supplement to keep animals in an adequate nutritional state.
The very best fertilizer for the land is the "footprints" of the owner!
We keep records on each of our animals from birth to adulthood. This includes birth weight, 205 day adjusted weight, 365 day adjusted weight, vaccination date and any other relevant events. We want potential buyers to know how our animals have been raised and treatments received.
About our British White Cattle
Our goal is to produce quality registered American full blood animals to sell to other British White breeders and to those just entering the British White business.
We have a limited late- winter - early- spring calving season. We are presently involved in both an artificial insemination program as well as natural service. Our goal is to have a large percentage of calves born early in the calving season for best growth and quick rebreeding of females. We insist the cows have a calf every 12 months. This will not happen without proper nutrition.
We breed our first calf heifers about 15 months of age so they will calve at about 24 months of age. This allows them to get adequate size to deliver a first calf and also size and condition to rebreed quickly.
We strive for a moderate size female " 1,050 - 1,200 pounds at maturity" We feel this size is the most profitable reproductive efficient we can produce. We desire our herd sires fit the mode of a moderate frame animal as well. We want them to be well muscled, broad, good depth of body on a moderate size frame. We want to pass these genetic features along to the purchasers of our British White cattle. One of the goals as a seed stock producer is to continue to improve and provide cattle that are reproductively efficient and will work for our customers and stay functional as long as you own them.
